GOOGLE Home has received an update that could fix an annoying problem with the smart speaker series and here’s what owners need to know.
Google Home launched back in 2016 and has since become profoundly popular.

Although it originally arrived in only a single variant, Google now sells four connected home products and is readying the launch of its fifth.

The American tech giant stocks three Home products that are smart speakers: the Google Home, Google Home Mini and Google Home Max.

However, back in October last year the firm unwrapped its first smart display, then dubbed the Google Home Hub and now the Google Nest Hub.

Later this year the Mountain View company will release the Google Nest Hub Max, a larger smart display with a built-in Nest Cam.

While every Google Home model varies in price and form factor, each similarly comes with the company’s esteemed Assistant built-in.

The virtual helper can be summoned at any time, even when playing music from a Google Home device.

However, one of the biggest annoyances with this comes from the fact the volume the Assistant will speak at is the same as the level set for music playback.

This can result in instances where the Assistant responds to questions or commands at a volume that is too loud or quiet.

However, it seems Google may soon remedy this issue with a new update for the Google Home app.

9to5Google noticed the Google Home app for iOS was recently upgraded to version 2.12.508 and includes a new tool within its speaker controls that seems set to allow the user to increase or decrease the volume of the Assistant in certain scenarios.

The outlet, and a Google Home owner that took to Reddit, noticed in the “equaliser settings” of the app there is now an option titled “custom TTS volume”

As noted by 9to5Google, the feature seems to provide a “definite change to Google replies and answers”.

However, it was declared in its current form, if a user changes the slider to its highest setting the Assistant’s voice will become distorted.

It is assumed once the feature is working in a full capacity it will act as a tool to help adjust the Assistant's output separate from other audio such as music playback.

While the addition is available in the newest version of the Google Home app for iOS, it is currently unclear when Android users will be treated to the same functionality.
