Galaxy S10 update: Samsung is working on this phone’s biggest upgrade ever

GALAXY S10 is expected to receive a dramatic upgrade later this year and a new report has claimed Samsung is already hard at work to deliver it to owners.

Galaxy S10 released back in March and arrived pre-installed with Google’s Android 9 Pie operating system with Samsung’s own One UI skin running on top.

Android 9 Pie will soon be surpassed by Android Q, the next iteration of Google’s esteemed mobile platform.

Android Q was unveiled in full at Google’s recent I/O developer conference in June - the software boasts a number of notable improvements over its predecessor.

Google is presumed to release Q in August, meaning it may be mere weeks before owners of its Pixel series can download it.

After the initial release of a new Android version, third-party manufacturers typically deliver it to their devices in the following months.

Android 9 Pie launched back in August last year but Samsung fans did not start receiving it until December for instance.

In an attempt to reduce the delay between Android Q’s initial launch on Pixel devices and other third-party hardware, Google has increased the number of devices that are present in its beta programme for the new operating system.

A grand total of 21 devices from a raft of different manufacturers are listed as being in the beta - most notably not a single Samsung device is involved though.

Despite no Samsung handsets being included, it had been presumed the tech giant was still hard at work to bring Android Q to its fans.

And now SamMobile has claimed the South Korean firm is indeed "testing" Android Q, specifically on its S10 series.

The outlet also expressed hope the update could come “quickly” once an expected beta programme for the latest Android version kicks off.

However, Samsung has not yet announced if or when an Android Q beta for its devices will take place.

Last year the firm held an extensive Android 9 Pie beta for a range of handsets including the Galaxy S9, S8, Note 9 and Note 8 - it is presumed the firm will operate something similar this year.

Android Q brings a number of noteworthy features to the table such as new gesture navigations, permission and more.
